Connect a phone number
Let your assistant answer real phone calls — go to Account, open Voice Calls, add a number on My Numbers, and assign it to your assistant.
Your assistant can do more than chat on your website — it can answer your phone. When someone calls the number you connect, your assistant picks up, greets them, and helps them, just like a friendly receptionist. This page shows you how to add a number and point it at your assistant.
This is where missed calls become handled calls. A clinic that connects its number never sends a caller to voicemail again — the assistant answers day and night.
What you'll do
- Open Voice Calls from your Account.
- On the My Numbers tab, click Add number.
- Assign that number to your assistant.
Connect the number
Open Voice Calls
In the left menu, click Account, then open Voice Calls. The Voice Calls screen appears.

You'll see four tabs near the top (marker ①): My Numbers, Phone connections, Call routing, and Call History. Start on My Numbers.
Add a number
On the My Numbers tab, click the ② "Add number" button and follow the short prompts to add your phone number.
You'll see the number appear in the list below, in a table with three columns: Number, Assistant, and Status.
Assign it to your assistant
For the number you just added, choose which assistant should answer it — pick the assistant you built (for example "Support assistant").
You'll see your assistant's name in the Assistant column and a green Active label in the Status column. That green Active means it's ready to take calls.
That's it — your assistant is now answering the phone. Call the number yourself to hear it in action.
The four tabs, briefly
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| My Numbers | The numbers connected to your assistants — the main place you'll work |
| Phone connections | How your phone line links into Calleague |
| Call routing | Rules for sending calls to the right assistant or person |
| Call History | A log of past calls (you'll also see calls in your inbox) |
If you need a number from your phone company
If you'd like to use a number you already own — your existing business line — you may need a quick step with your phone provider to point that line to Calleague. The Phone connections tab is where that link lives. If you're not sure, send us the number you want to use and we'll guide you. Calleague can also provide a number for you, so you can start straight away.
If something looks different
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The status isn't Active yet | The number isn't fully connected, or no assistant is assigned | Assign an assistant; if it's your own line, finish the step on Phone connections |
| No assistant to choose | You haven't built one yet | Create one first — see Create your first assistant |
| You can't find Voice Calls | It lives under Account | Click Account in the left menu, then Voice Calls |
| Calls aren't coming through | Your own line may not be pointed at Calleague yet | Check the Phone connections tab, or write to us for help |
